U1 Research is a fresh company in many sense. It was founded in 2009 by members of ACM KDD Cup winner (and many more… we have five 1st prize, three 2nd prize, and >10 the best European team awards) team. Members are innovative, widely recognized young (<35) researchers who are looking forward for challenges, and who are actually pushing the limits of IT technologies. We are completing projects believed to be ‘future technologies’ from research to market entrance in months.
Currently, U1 Research has 4 full time members and 4-12 shared time members depending on the number of projects we are working on. We are fast workers: for example, we made a TV commercial auditing system in two months (and in other 6 months it was on the market), we made a pedestrian recognition framework in 6 weeks, and we made a Hungarian natural language question to SQL parser in 7 months. We believe that only nonprofit, social and economy impact oriented research (and innovation, of course) can break rapidly the known barriers of IT technologies.
Our company is a nonprofit organization. Our aim is to help talented IT researchers to make a difference, to join a motivating team, to be creative, therefore we fund, we initiate, we do research projects, and we manage the outcomes in the first miles on the market. Our aim is to be the most valuable private IT research company in the Eastern Middle European region within the next three years.
